April Goals Report
Yes, I still have goals, and yes, I'm still working on them, just at a slower pace.
So, I set pretty lofty goals for the year, at least for me. Something, that if accomplished, can really raise the bar on my business and personal life satisfaction. Because in the end, that is really what this is all about. Am I happy/satisfied with what I have done/seen/tried/avoided in life.
There have been some rough times, loss of my father, ill health for me and my spouse, a very sick cat who recovered, you know, Life. Even with all that, I have poked along, sometimes giving myself some grace, and sometimes giving myself grief. But, when looking back at the whole first quarter, and now 1/3 of the way through the second quarter, I can see where the aggregate of one stone on top of another has started to build me a foundation.
So: Writing:
I sold a short story to an anthology, and will let folks know when it comes out. The publisher is looking at doing a kickstarter for it.
I also wrote a short story/novella and am finishing the editing on it currently.
No work on my novels…but with having been an avid reader of Harvey’s Substack and website/blog. (Tons of writer resources!)
I have been reinforcing some things I have believed in the distant past, and slowly shedding some improper beliefs I had taken into my heart that didn’t belong and were a handicap on my creativity instead of a rein and saddle to stay on that bolting imagination! So, I can see that as the quarters continue that finishing at least one of the novels is certainly in the realm of possibility.
Nothing done on my kid’s books
I have done some writing notes on substack, though not as many articles/essays/blogs, as I was hoping, though still, at least 2 per month.
I’ve also been doing some beta reading with my writer’s group, AlphaMercs
For Art:
I did some more work on my website, for CoverArtGems - there still seems to be a few hiccups, though.
I finished an ebook and print book cover commission, as well as formatting both the ebook and print book manuscript for a client. Always a joy to bring someone’s vision to life!
I started illustrations for a client’s poetry book.
I did concept art for 2 different clients and am waiting to hear back on that.
Nothing but mulling on the 3D front
No new webinars, though I’m still mulling there, too,
YouTube channel, I haven’t had the brain to work on, but I’ve been studying how to improve my channel, and even have the outline for a whole new children’s channel, so will see how that goes.
So, there has been some progress, even though when crawling through the weeds of daily life it is sometimes hard to see how far I’ve come and how far I have to go.
I hope you continue on this journey with me. Feel free to share some of your accomplishments for the past quarter. Remember hindsight is 20/20, you just have to actually use it!
See you later this month!
Congrats on the short story sale, Tiffanie! And good luck removing the scaffolding in your creative processes. I still have a ton of it, myself. 🙂
